Background
The Royal College of Midwives (RCM) recently embarked on a vital project to manage and relocate a substantial collection of items stored at their Bristol site. As part of their plans to vacate the property, RCM partnered with DeepStore, specialists in secure archival storage and document management. The project aimed to ensure the safe and efficient transfer of library material, while also facilitating the destruction of selected items.
The Project Scope
The project involved the careful preparation and palletisation of 215 boxes for transfer to DeepStore’s secure storage facilities, as well as the organisation and packing of 330 items for destruction. These materials were stored in the basement of the Bristol building, and the task at hand required meticulous attention to detail to ensure the proper handling and secure transportation of all items. In total, 545 boxes and destruction sacks were processed and removed.
Preparation
In preparation for the uplift, DeepStore worked closely with the RCM team to understand the requirements and establish the most efficient plan. The plan outlined everything from the logistics, resources, and timelines to complete the project successfully and on time, with a target completion time of three days.

Execution
The decision was made to transfer the items to DeepStore’s state-of-the-art facility within the Winsford rock salt mine. This site offers unparalleled security and environmental stability, making it an ideal choice for the long-term preservation of sensitive and valuable materials. A dedicated and experienced team was assigned to oversee the process, ensuring that every aspect was handled with the utmost professionalism. The team worked diligently to meet the tight deadline, coordinating the packing, transport, and storage phases seamlessly.
The project was completed successfully and on time, demonstrating DeepStore’s ability to handle complex and time-sensitive operations with precision and care.
