Matt is Driver in our Transport team.
How long have you worked in the industry and at DeepStore?
My answer is the same for both, 2.5 years, previously I worked in Warehousing.
What does your typical day look like?
A very good question! My day varies greatly (which I like!) it ranges from driving 18T trucks , 7.5T trucks and vans, delivering and collecting to customers to working underground using the flatbed truck and forklifts, never a dull moment.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself?
In a previous life I was a semi professional ballroom and latin dancer! Hard to believe now but it’s true.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I enjoy movies, walking the dog and spending time with the family. Cliché I know but it’s true.
What’s your favourite DeepStore service to talk about and why?
My favourite and probably the most obvious is I love the fact that we store important items (Historic and otherwise) in the salt mine. An ingenious use of the space.
Can you share a fun or quirky story from your time at DeepStore?
I once collected a Bronze Age Axe head as part of a collection at Buxton Museum which I thought was pretty cool.
What’s your favourite biscuit/go to snack?
Walkers crisps (other brands available) I must admit they are my weakness.
If you could be an item in storage, what would you be and why?
Some sort of historical artefact I think. Something with cultural and historical significance. The mine’s that big I bet the Holy Grail is down there somewhere, I’ll be that! (It isn’t by the way!)
