Today we were pleased to welcome members of the watch from Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service to our Winsford salt mine.
Their visit offered a valuable opportunity to understand more about our operations, our people, and the unique underground environment we work in every day.
Group Manager Jon Caulfield, who has served the Winsford and Northwich communities for 29 years, shared why the visit was so important:

Jon Caulfield, Group Manager of the CWAC area said “I have responded to many incidents in the Winsford/Northwich area over my 29-year career. However, my stations at Winsford and Northwich have never been able to visit the local salt mines, which is a risk site for us. Although rescues below ground would be covered by your rescue team, I still see value in my teams visiting the site to gain a greater understanding of what takes place and the number of people that work down there. The site has considerable heritage value for the Mid-Cheshire area.”
We appreciate the team taking time to join us today and for the vital work they do in keeping our communities safe.
We look forward to continuing our close partnership.
