  • Sustainable, repurposing of an existing space

You may already be aware of our innovative use of Britain’s largest pre-existing rock salt mine, as a document storage facility. However, you might not know that we have vast amounts of space underground, naturally created from mining rock salt that is used as a de-icer to keep Britain’s road networks safe in the winter months.

  • Commitment to creating zero waste from our operations

Here at DeepStore, we are committed to creating zero waste from our operations. The majority of the items that we dispose of can be reused and we have contracts in place with Waste Disposal companies that recycle or recover our waste. Once items have been incinerated to provide Waste to Energy, any residue that is left is repurposed and used in the construction of road surfaces.

  • Reduce CO2 emissions

We have utilised the dry and stable environment of the mine to create storage rooms that are kept at a continuous temperature of 15ºC with a humidity level of 55%, enabling us to eliminate the CO2 emissions that are usually involved in environmental control.

  • Electric powered vehicles

We have upgraded the entirety of our underground records delivery fleet to electric-powered vehicles. This has been a huge step in our commitment to the environment because electric vehicles do not emit any of the gases associated with global warming and they are great for your carbon footprint because they do not need diesel or petrol.
