SOAS University of London (School of Oriental and African Studies) has awarded DeepStore a three-year contract to manage over 2,000 boxes of valuable records.
SOAS has initially stored more than 1,000 boxes with the company at its ‘live above ground’ storage facility in Bromley-by-Bow in London’s East End and will add a further 1,200 units this year.
Items being stored include a variety of paper records, such as financial and personnel documents, student administration files and examination papers.
SOAS is a public research university founded in 1916 and located in the heart of Bloomsbury, central London. It counts several heads of state, many government ministers, ambassadors, supreme court judges and industrialists among its graduates. One of its best-known graduates is the 1991 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Aung San Suu Kyi.
Adele Picken, SOAS corporate records manager and archivist, said: “We have been very impressed with the service offered by DeepStore – they are always reliable and timely in processing our orders and collecting and delivering boxes. We also wanted a more efficient way to manage our off-site storage service and DeepStore Online has really saved us time.”
Craig Trimby, DeepStore’s head of sales, said: “It’s important that students, researchers and academics have confidence in our retrieval system being both fast and accurate. DeepStore has a proven track record in meeting these demanding requirements and we’re looking forward to working in partnership with the university.”
SOAS joins other prestigious DeepStore clients including the National Archives, the Royal Society and Wellcome Trust.
DeepStore provides same-day and two-hour retrieval services to its clients in the City of London and surrounding boroughs. Access to stored material is through DeepStore Online. It also offers proactive confidential destruction service in line with the university’s retention policy.
